This is a tutorial showing how to install Khmer unicode on a Mac computer. Mine is running verson 10.6.3 aka Snow Leopard. It should work with other versions too. Let me know if it doesn't. All the credits go to Mr. Frank Smith (I just got forward email from a youtube friend of mine (AhMuoy thanks again). Here are the links: (not working) Khmer.rsrc http://is.gd/cDjbh XenoType Khmer.ttf http://is.gd/cDjgS XenoType KhmerBold.ttf http://is.gd/cDjhs KhmerKeyboard_niDa_v1.0.pdf http://is.gd/cDjon Use this link instead: (Credit goes to Mr. Danh Hong for making new 8 NiDA Khmer Unicode fonts which work and display well on Window, Mac and Adobe products) http://khmerlc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/NiDAUpdate6.zip just click on this link and extract it after downloading. Then drag all of the .tff files in to the Fonts folder. English instruction from Mr. Frank Smith: This should be everything you need. You put the .ttf files into the "Fonts" folder inside your "Library" folder, and you put the .rsrc folder into the "Keyboard Layouts" folder in your "Library" folder. Then you'll need to select the Khmer keyboard in your System Preferences under "International" and "Input Menu". I've also attached the keyboard map to this e-mail. The map is for Windows Khmer Unicode fonts but it works fine with Mac too, just substitute "Option key" where it says "right ALT key". I also recommend this free word processing software for typing in Khmer, it's very basic but it works with no problems at all: http://www.bean-osx.com/Bean.html Khmer Unicode will not work on MS Word on the Mac, but it will work in NeoOffice (a free Microsoft Office substitute): http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/download.php#download Khmer Unicode also works fine in both Firefox and Safari. You can easily use it with Yahoo mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and Facebook. It's a little tricky in Thunderbird, but usable...ask me if you're a Thunderbird user (I am). To use Khmer in any applications just click on the American flag icon in the upper right menu bar and select the Cambodian flag in the drop-down menu. If you have any trouble installing any of these things, or getting the font to work, let me know. Note that your other option on a Mac, if you're used to running Windows under Boot Camp, Parallels or Fusion, is to install the Windows Khmer Unicode fonts on your virtual XP or Vista machines. Why would you want to do this, you ask? Because the Mac Khmer Unicode font is just that, only one font, and it's very plain and not pretty at all. You get much more variety with the Windows fonts...plus you can use them in programs that only exist in Windows, like Microsoft Publisher (which the absolute best program to use for word processing with Khmer Unicode, and pretty much the only program to use for complex layout/desktop publishing. It's what I used to create all my Khmer textbooks, for example.

Aug 27, 2010 - your English is really good. I'm really impress English extremely complicated and you go an American accent. I'm Khmer too and I've been here in the USA for about four years, but my English isn't that great. I'm currently taking ABC classes and my problem is reading especially newspaper I sometimes tried to translate from English to Khmer, unfortunately it didn't work too well for me, so I'd like to ask you if you could make a video how to read newspaper. I hope you would respond my request.
